King Wu's Sudden Death Shocks the Zhou People

King Wu fell ill shortly after his triumph over the Shang Dynasty. Only six weeks after King Wu defeated the Shang, he passed away. King Wu did many things when he had power. One of the biggest things he did was defeat the Shang Dynasty.  Even in victory, King Wu was a merciful ruler and spared the Shang royal family. He even allowed one of the Shang people to rule the little state of Song. King Wu was the first emperor of the Zhou Dynasty.  King Wu will be greatly missed by all.
King Wu was greatly loved by the people of his empire. One land owner said this about King Wu’s sudden death.
“He was a great man. I will miss him terribly, and I really appreciate all the effort he put forth for China.”
King Wu’s brother, the Duke of Zhou, will become the new king. Wu’s son Chang is only an infant now, so he will not be able to hold power. When Chang is old enough, the Duke of Zhou shall step down and Chang will become king.
Next weeks paper will have more information about the funeral.
